6 Reasons to Measure Wettability in Paper and Board Quality Control

20 maart 2015
The parameters that are being measured in quality control of paper and board may differ for several reasons; what applications the paper is made for, available instrumentation, traditions etc. If you haven't thought about measuring wettability and adhesion properties of your paper, here are 6 reasons to start doing so.

1. Wettability of a paper or board depends on the coatings and treatments done to it. By measuring the wettability, deviations in coatings and treatments can be observed.
2. Adhesion, deriving from wettability properties, is very important in a number of paper and board-related applications such as printing, coating and packaging. For example the adhesion between paper and ink needs to be tested to verify the subsequent printing quality.
